Description(Dated Tuesday afternoon.)
Dear Friend,
I requested Mr. Simcox and Mr. Moore to attend this morning and with the judicious aid of Mr. Hawkes we settled what was immediately essential.
Mrs. Sarah Turner says you mentioned a letter of Lord Lansdown's that you intended I should see. Don't forget Pye's prints of halfpence.
Blocks to print assignats were brought to a workman of our assay master's to cast, and which were to be repaired by Hancox. I saw the blocks and acquainted Lord Hawkesbury with the particulars; what farther passed must be the subject of conversation.
There was brought to me sissell of inferior rolled gold, from which round pieces had been cut larger than guineas, but there was a reserve by the person who brought it and therefore I did not urge explanations.
God bless you. I am ever affectionately and gratefully yours,
Samuel Garbett
