| Description | (Dated Saturday night.) Dear Friend, I hope you have received the packet I sent this day at noon. Enclosed are two sheets of paper, viz. One sheet containing four different subjects entitled to serious consideration for the common interest of my creditors. One sheet states outlines of Mr. Hog having made dividends without due attention to such creditors who can only rank on my seperate effects. I expect Mr. Hog's annual meeting with his constituents next month will shew that the gentlemen in Scotland will not venture to go before the Court of Session, and I have some reason to fear Carron Co. have determined not to send me their half yearly Balance Account as heretofore. I always received that settled at the 30 June before December, and Fairholme's claim for £26,862. 12. 8 for a debt of £25,605. 7. 6 after having been paid £25,462. 2. 8 will probably come to a discussion before commissioners in London in February. All these are reasons why we should not have a meeting in London before March, as it will probably be unavoidably necessary in that month, and the trouble, inconvenience, and expence of an indecisive meeting should certainly be avoided. However, I am prepared, if Messrs. Capper, Barker, and Chace insist upon it. God bless you. I am ever gratefully yours, Samuel Garbett [Edited transcript.] |
