TitleLetter. William Matthews (London) to Matthew Boulton (Soho).
LevelItem
Date7 August 1787
DescriptionDear Sir,
We arrived here this morning safe and sound, considering ourselves much obliged to you and yours for contributing so effectually to the restoration of Mrs. M.’s health, which I trust and hope will be lasting.
Mr. Toby Atkinson says he did not know the money was coming from Mr. Wedgwood untill the writings were fully made out, or wou’d have acquainted us. He says Mr. Wedgwood felt himself awkward expressing himself to that effect. I therefore wish to know the result of your interview with him, and also wish you to send the French crown, along with a few of the Anglesey and Broseley pence, say about three of each.
I herewith send you the paper you requested, and remain, with best respects to Miss Boulton, &c., yours very sincerely,
Wm. Matthews
Mr. Walker’s letter (per procuration) of 6 August is received, and the foreign letters will be forwarded in course.
