| Description | Dear Sir, In consequence of your letter to Mr. M. received last night I this morning wrote to Mrs. Vere. I am uncertain whether she is yet come to town, but I have no doubt of her coming in a day or two; I think they have no company, but if I hear from her, will write to you. At any rate, Miss B. will do right to accompany you, and tho’ I cannot promise her the comforts or gaieties of Pt. St., she may be perfectly her own mistress in G. L. L. As to yourself, your nest shall be ready for you; a young lady is now airing it for you, and she will have fully accomplish’d that business before your arrival: I shall be rejoiced to see you, being, with kind love to Miss Boulton, dear sir, yours very sincerely, C. Matthews Don’t be alarm’d; the young lady’s occupying your bed, is only out of pure regard to you, for it is by no means her last shift. [Edited transcript.]
