TitleLetter. Charlotte Matthews (London) to Matthew Boulton (Soho).
LevelItem
Date3 January 1788
DescriptionDear Sir,
I wrote to you last night per box, and have this day seen Mr. Vere, who says Mrs. Vere is not in town, nor will she come to town till to-morrow sinnight or Saturday sinnight, at which time they will be happy to see Miss Boulton; and in the interim I shall hope for the pleasure of Miss B.’s company. If, therefore, you shou’d happen to arrive in town before we return from our weekly excursion to G. Farm, you must take care of yourselves with the Commodore’s assistance, whom of old you know to be my first Officer, and of course Commanding Officer in my absence.
Adieu! My love to your better third, and believe me ever yours sincerely,
C. Matthews.
