DescriptionDear Sir,
Sometime since, Mr. Vere desir’d we wou’d recommend to your particular notice a lobster of his acquaintance, which I believe Mr. M. did, in one of his letters on business; but, fearing it may have escap’d your notice, I take the liberty of begging you to shew him some civilities. It is a Mr. Charles Serle (an officer in (I believe) the first Regiment of Dragoons), now quarter’d in Birmingham), who is a very genteel well-behav’d young man, notwithstanding the above appellation. Shou’d therefore wish you to send to him or see him before your journey to London (which I hope is not far distant), as it will give great pleasure to C. V., Esqre., to whom you are indebted for this scrawl.
(Pray give my best regards (in which Mr. M. desires to be join’d) to Mrs. Boulton, &c. &c.
I am, dear sir, yours very sincerely,
Charlotte Matthews.
