I understand your coat to be the inclosed cloth, and that you had fix'd upon the silk pattern with the pink in it. Now, as I wear only black, I cannot permit you to wear pink, but a still stronger matter is that I think the other silk pattern which I enclose is neat and handsome, and at your age a similarity rather than a diversity of colors ought to be preferr'd. However, if you don't approve my taste, say so, and I will try the skill of some of my gay acquaintance and take care you shall have something handsome. Miss L. wou'd possibly have chosen the gayest, but I am for the neatest.
Mr. Woodward will take this to G. L. L. to go by parcel, in which I have also wrote you. I am going to meet my horses at Blackfriars Bridge.
