| Description | Dear Sir, I wrote to you on Tuesday, since which I have received the money from Mr.Rowe for account of Boulton & Watt. As I had particular business that prevented my going for it myself yesterday I sent Mosley, and Mr. Rowe mentioned that it might be better that you gave me a general power of attorney to receive from the New River Co., but this as you and Mr. Watt please. I took the bill per £61. 7. to Mr. Nath. Jefferies myself; he has accepted, but wishes you to permit the time to be alter'd from two to three months. I promised to write to you on the subject, and if you permitted me to make the alteration I wou'd let him know per penny post. I have also made enquiries respecting Mr. Rotch, who only lodges in Laurence Poulteney Lane, and I cannot learn what he is. Unless, therefore, he shou'd bring a good recommendation, it will be necessary to make further enquiries before you favor him with your acquaintance; tell me whether I shall make any further enquiries. I most heartily wish you well thro' your fatigue, and hope you will take very good care of yourself, remaining, dear sir, your very affectionate friend, C. Matthews [Edited transcript.] |
