Description(2 pcs)
[I have been in London since I saw you and have sold to the East India Co. £42,000 of my Copper. You say a Mill is wanted to grind 20 lasts of Wheat per week, or 200 quarters = 1600 bushels ÷ 6 days = 266 2/3 bushels, per day ÷ 12 hours = 22 bushels and ¼ per hour; to which add the wood framing, made on the spot. Such an Engine will do the whole business in 12 hours per day, and will burn from 2 to 2¼ bushels of Coal per hour: 1 pair of Stones will grind from 6 to 8 bushels per hour, and as there must be one pair of Stones in the hands of the dresser, it will require in all 5 pair of Stones. I cannot speak with certainty of the Millwrights work, but if you apply to John Rennie he will give you an estimate.]
