"Copy of Mr. Boulton’s letter to Mr. Motteux, respecting Mr. Audras’ share of the corn-mill." (This docket appears on the draft letter below, which was formerly used as a wrapper.) (Press-copy.)
["I perceive I have too long omitted answering your favour of the 18th ult. which must only be imputed to extreme indisposition of body and mind. I have lost half my self and all my spirits." Please inform Mr. Audras that I will reserve for him a £500 or £1000 share in the Corn Mill [Albion Mill] undertaking at Blackfriars Bridge. In answer to his queries (1) The old buildings are now being taken down and one third of the Mill will be set to work about May. The rest of the building we hope to finish in the year 1784. (2) We estimate that the Buildings, Engines, Millwork, Dock, Houses, Offices and Granaries will cost £15,000. (3) The terms of payment, either of profit or the interest is not settled. (4) The sum that will be advanced in the Commercial part of the business will be from 45 to £50,000. (5) The term of paying the money into the Trade will be settled when we meet. (6) We hope for a handsome profit but there is no office to ensure at. I go to Ireland in 9 days or a fortnight and afterwards to Scotland.]
