| Description | Soho 6 Feby 72 Sir Yesterday I finishd the Inventory which amounts to almost £7000 more than it did this time two years, so that I hope the fruits of your Labor may be better than expected. I have this day taken a general survey of the situation of our vases &c for the sale from Bentley and tho' there is an emense quantity to gild I think we are much forwarder than we were at this time last year if Bentley has not deceived me but from what occular demonstration I have had since morning they seem pretty near to his discription, however I shall now be half a vase maker and half a dam it and sink it the order will be too late if not sent in. We shall send a good many setts of Soho Shells on monday morning but cant get any to night. We only receivd the Cands: & Branches for Ld Kerry back from Chester yesterday, Duval has got 'em in hand and will loose no time, the tripods & Branches are also going on quick as possible. We have Button orders without end and have had many stragling Chain orders lately so tht they dont want work. I am Sir your Obedt Servt Jno Scale Yours of the 4th is just come to hand wherein you say you can not find the Butts for his Majesty's inspection in the Box you received on tuesday night which is strange indeed as no less than 4 of us can safely swear they were put in the Box they were lapd up in a square parcel and wrote upon Soho Buttons. Matthews says he received £119 but takes no notice of £90 in [Ban]k Bills which I sent from Soho exclusive of the £119 the filligree things were in the same Box. will send a Calculation of the wing figurd vase per next Box 'tis too late now |
