Description(Directed to Mr. Matthews’, merchant.)
3 March 85
Mr. Perks call'd and dined at our House yesterday & brought the inclos'd List from Mrs. Pratt. & said if you wou'd grant him this request he woud not ask for any more. I understand he wants to convert the Barn that is at a Distance from the House into a Shed & to enlarge the Barn at Home. now I remember it was once thought particularly convenient to have that Barn which is at a distance & perhaps the next Tennant woud want you to build it up again. Pratt has now got possession & you can't turn him off under 3 years, so that he perhaps thinks he has got the upper hand of you as you have scarce time to let it before Lady day even if he wou'd Let you however I think if I was in your place I woud not consent to taking the Barn down at least for one year or till you are satisfied that it is right to take it down.

Please not to loose the inclosd.
