| Description | London March 7th 1775 Dear Sir I should have wrote to you yesterday, but had nothing new. To day I waited upon Mr Sollicitor general with the Bill which he approved of and it is gone to be printed, upon Thursday Ld Guernsey presents it, and I shall advise the consequence, I expect the Opposition will subside, at any rate none will probably arise untill after the second reading, which must be five days after the first. I showed it to Mr J. Dundas yesterday who seemed satisfied and said that he would attend the Committee, I spent Sunday night with Dr Nooth but not one word upon the subject, though he talked freely & was very good company-A Mr Forsyth a brother suitor and Agent for the Piccadilly bill, asks to have Copy of my bill & is to use interest with some members he has weight with-I saw Meredith & some other of your canal people to day at the house to oppose Ld Dudleys bill-I gave them little comfort the arguments they used of the loss your canal would suffer in tolls were against them, as they tend to prove the utility of the other mais passe pour cela. I have decamped from the Hotel and taken Lodgings in Dukes court St Martins lane at a Mr Macullocks-at 14/6 week, two rooms & a Closet-I waited upon Colll Roy to day who understands the engine from the description I gave him & I expect with be of use by explaining it to others. I have not heard from Dr R. yet & write again to him to night- Mr & Mrs Vere desire their compliments to you & Mrs Boulton-I ever am Sincerely Your's James Watt
