Dear Sir,
I am exceedingly glad to find that you are in London, and taking the steps necessary to secure proper advantages from your excellent invention. Mr Boulton had hopes of being in town about this time, but is prevented. A circumstance also has arisen very lately that will engage him to delay the execution of his steam engine for some time. He, Dr Darwin, & I will rejoice to see you, & to tell our neighbors the services you can do them. Mr Edgeworth is a gentleman of fortune, young & mechanical, & indefatigable. He is not acquainted with Heatly, but has taken a resolution of moving land and water carriages by steam, and has made considerable progress for the short space of time he has employed himself in that study. He knows nothing of your peculier improvements, but seems to be in a fair way of knowing whatever can be known on such subjects. At present he is in Ireland. My respects if you please to Mr Cummings. Get your patent and come to Birmingham with as much time to spend there as you can. I am with great affection
