Dear Sir
I came prosperously to Edinburgh by eleven oclock on saturday night, where I found our friends well-I came here yesterday & found my children both well-
On Considering the Condenser for our own Engine I think it will be best to make it exactly like the large ones, that is to have the 2 air pumps as near the condenser cylinder as may be, and to put a wheel in place of the beam and also to have the water pump on the outside of the condenser cylr: and wrought by a seperate Rod directly from the little beam-[There follows a sketch of the arrangement described.] I am afraid that the conducts from the condenser to the pumps were too long as I concerted them with Joseph-You will also send Joseph to Bloomfield to see how the house is going on & that proper space be left for the condenser cistern &c
I write this before I go out in the morning lest I should be hindered at night, so have seen nobody yet-Compts: to Mrs Boulton &c adieu-J Watt
