Dear Sir
I did not hear of your letter yesterday untill it was too late and moreover have been poorly since you went away-The plug valves seem to perform all we expected from them and a little more but we have mett with some few difficultys as usual which I expect are now mastered, & a better way of hauling them up is contrived free of stuffing boxes-
I was obliged to lend Johnson for 2 days this week to Ld Dudley whose work is never out of a scrape
The man from Clough went away satisfyed & I am to call there in my way to Scotland
I am quite dull & have nothing further to say . . .
Yours James Watt
