DescriptionGEORGE and VULTURE TAVERN, George-Yard,

London, the 28th of April, 1784.

WHEREAS the patentees of a certain Steam Engine, intending, with several other persons, to erect such an engine, of large dimensions, at the foot of Black-Friars-Bridge, for the grinding of corn and dressing of flour, have made application for obtaining a charter, to incorporate themselves by the name and stile of the ALBION MILL COMPANY, which charter has not yet been obtained, (a caveat having been entered against it) and as the granting of such a charter will, as is conceived, greatly promote and encourage a monopoly of a dangerous nature, the owners and occupiers of corn mills, and others concerned in estates of that nature, and in the corn trade, who have already taken the business into due consideration, think it material to themselves, and the public, to oppose the granting of such charter, and have appointed a committee for that purpose. All persons therefore, interested in mill property, are desired to attend the said committee, at the George and Vulture Tavern, in George-Yard, Cornhill, London, who meet every Monday and Friday, at one o'clock precisely, on that business; and such Gentlemen as cannot attend, are requested to address letters to Messrs. PARNTHER and DRUCE, Solicitors, in London-Street, to which due attention will be paid.
