[Garbett to Boulton.]
I am not certain whether you left duplicates of the papers sent you with this. Pray look at the N. B. note on the first side of the paper No. 4.
God bless you. I am ever your affectionate and obliged
Samuel Garbett

[Boulton to Sherbourn.]
Edward Woods is the inventor of a comb machine and has sign'd an article of partnership with William Mouncy, late of Manchester, but now of St. Helens. Woods complains of ill usage and has sollicited my protection and assistance in carrying his invention into effect, but it appears to me proper that he should, first, desolve his present partnership, or that his partner should execute a duplicate of the article, that Woods may be on a par with Mouncy and carry on the business harmoniously, which Woods seems to think is impossible.
As some money has been expended upon the machine that is made, which Woods invented and in part executed with his own hands: query, if Woods pays down the money so expended, will Mouncy agree to the cancelling of the article of partnership?
As Woods seems to be hardly used, I will thank you to enquire into the merits of the case and advise him how to act, and favor me with your opinion, as I always feel my self disposed to assist oppressed inginuity.
