Dear Friend,
I have determined to request a meeting of my family creditors in Scotland, which I expect will materially influence the meeting I propose to have in London. My grandson will go to Scotland when it is found expedient. Pray be so good as to write a proxy from the copy annexed.
I am ever gratefully and affectionately yours,
Samuel Garbett

Sir,
I hereby authorise you to attend all general meetings held at Edinburgh of the creditors of Samuel Garbett of Birmingham, and to give an opinion and vote on my behalf in such matters as may be there stated, according to the sentiments or request of the said Samuel Garbett or of his grandson Lieutenant Colonel John Garbett.
I am, sir, your obedient servant,

Assignee under a commission of bankruptcy against Samuel Garbett.
To Colin Mackenzie.
