DescriptionDear Friend,
Sometime since I had great reason to be disatisfied with Mr. Mackenzie, when my friend Mr. Campbell reccommended Mr. James Hope to me. Now the causes are coming to a hearing it is necessary Mr. Hope should be ready, if called upon, to produce your authority to act as agent or solicitor.
The multiple pounding mentioned to be brought at the instance of Carron Company is in consequence of Mr. Selkrig's arresting my Carron stock to obtain a preference of interest as well as a principal, notwithstanding its being vested in assignees for the creditors in general by a commission of bankruptcy against me.
I beg you would be so good as to send the letters desired to morrow morning by the bearer.
Mr. and Mrs. Romilly are returned to London. They left Mr. and Mrs. Watt well at Paris, where they proposed staying about ten days longer.
Mr. and Mrs. Whittaker intend to come to me for three or four day to morrow.
God bless and preserve you. I am ever your affectionate and grateful
Samuel Garbett
