DescriptionConcerning Mr Brown's letter with papers, permission from Lord Hawkesbury to export further articles of machinery, and the demands of Boulton's people for a pay increase which should be sent to one of the Emporer's Ministers who speaks English to examine them. Smirnove also advises that the importation of porter into Russia is still prohibited, but that his men need not worry as 'there is an immense quantity of it smuggled in and every body drinks it, besides we even have very good strong beer made at Petersburg by an English Brewer, Smith.'
