Description"Wishes me to see Sir William Beechey respecting my father’s engraving, and to inquire after Mr. Pugh’s character. Herself and the remainder of the party at Soho impatient to see me." (Directed to 13 London Street.)
Dear Sir,
Understanding that this will find you in London, and fearing you may leave it without calling on Sir William Beechey, I have only to acquaint you he is particularly desirous of seeing you respecting the engraving your father’s portrait, which is now quite ready for that purpose.
Your father is in good health and spirits, and your sister is mending. There has been a Mr. Pugh here from London, a surgeon, who has directed the movements of her knee, but has applied nothing. As Sir William knows everybody, probably he may tell you something of his history, of which we are all particularly anxious to be informed. He appears to us so eccentric in his manner of treating his patients.
Mr. and Mrs. Floyer and Miss Tomkinson, [are here] but they quit Soho on Saturday. Our party quarrée are particularly desirous of seeing you and wish you a pleasant and safe journey to Soho. Your father is impatient to see you and is happy to learn from friend Foxes that you look bravely.
I hope you have made that use of my house that might suit you, and am, dear sir, sincerely yours,
C. Matthews
