TitleCopy letter. Matthew Robinson Boulton (Soho) to William Wilkinson (—).
LevelItem
Datec. February 1797
Description(Incomplete.)
PS. We foresee that the situation in which B & [W] are placed by the Chancellors late order to the[m] will so much strengthen their aversion to employ any workmen from Bersham that we should inevitably incur their displeasure by engaging them at the Foundry. Indeed such a measure after the recent visit to Wrexham might involve Mr Watt by furnishing the dissatisfied pretexts, however unfounded, for insinuations to his dissadvantage. Upon the whole we should rather wish those persons who have any intention of offering their services to be dissuaded from it, as our present circumstances will preclude us from accepting them. Our sentiments upon this subject you will have more fully in JW’s answer to your favor received this Morning—for which accept our thanks.
