| Description | (Directed to Mr. Bourdon’s, rue de Maurepas.)
Dear Matt, I receiv'd your and Mr. Bourdon's letters. Agreeable to your request, I have purchased most of the books noted in your said letters, which I intended bringing to Versailles, but as I cannot come before Sunday I send this letter by the desire of Mrs. DeLassert, to invite you to meet some other young folks at Mr. DeLassert's house on Saturday next, where they propose to give a family ball and supper to the young folks, and they are desireous that you should be one of the party. If it will be agreeable to your self you may come on Saturday morning or noon in any of the carriages. I leave it entirely to your own inclinations. But if you do come, you must bring with you the new clothes that were made for you last summer, with the new silk wastcoat, white silk stockings, pumps, &c. If you do not come you may expect to see me at Versailles on Sunday, and if you do come I shall return with you on Sunday. I beg you will present my respectfull compliments to Mr. Bourdon, with thanks for his letter, which I should have answer'd had I not determin'd to come to Versailles on Sunday. Adieu, my dear son. I remain ever your very affectionate father, Mattw. Boulton [Edited transcript.] |
