Description"Memoranda for Mr. Küchler respecting the seals. Acquiescence in Milner’s proposals for taking down the houses at Hockley. To consult Mr. Curtis about apportionment of the Needwood Forest allotment."

Bath, February 17th, 1809.
Sir,
I annex a memorandum for Mr. Kuckler, which you will please to deliver to him immediately upon reciept hereof. I cannot convey by writing my instructions for the planting which is to be done on the site of the present kitchen garden. It can only be done on the spot, and must therefore remain till I return. The gardener may be informed that the whole, or nearly the whole, of the middle part of it will be occupied by the intended planting, and we must content ourselves with the crops which can be reared on the two ends in the old kitchen garden, and on the piece of land in front of the rick yard. The price asked by Milner for dressing the bricks and stacking them, pulling down the houses, and laying by the materials carefully, appears to be reasonable. The agreement had better be put into writing, but I concieve it will be proper to defer beginning upon the job till the whole of the houses are vacated, that it may be completed without interruption. One of the small houses I intend to reserve for the habitation of John Withers, and if one of the best of them should not be found to be inconveniently situated, I shall of course retain it in preference to his present cottage. Chamber's request for the reasons which you have assigned, and for others which might be, but principally on the score of precedent, cannot be complied with. The bricks I am ready to purchase at a fair valuation, or let them be estimated by Mr. Crieghton and I am ready to allow him 2/ per thousand for them.
Mr. Curtis having inspected the allotment at Needwood, I shall be guided by his opinion as to the propriety of seperating it in the first instance, and, if he thinks that advisable, as to the apportionment of it. You will please therefore to lay the case before him and request his opinion.
Do not suffer the completion of the saddle house to be neglected. I am, sir, your obedient servant,
M. Robn. Boulton
No. 15, Bond Street,
Bath.
PS. Transcribe my memorandum for Mr. K., and attend to the forwarding of the drawing; Mr. Philp will copy it.

Memorandum for Mr. Kuckler.
Seal.-The engraving of the arms will, I apprehend, be approved; at least, from my recollection of the pie device, of which I have not a specimen with me, I am not aware of any alteration being requisite. But the oval rim is not equally perfect. Upon a close examination, it will be found to be lame in places; I mean by this expression to observe that, either from the unequal relief of the rim or the inaccuracy of the figure of it, it strikes the eye as being an imperfect oval, not true throughout.

I wish this observation to be attended to by Mr. K. and the necessary correction to be made by him, accordingly. The seals may then be delivered over to Mr. Bonus to be mounted and forwarded to Mr. Woodward
Before I make my remarks on the impression of the half pie, I wish to have the drawing (or a copy of it) which was given for Mr. Kuckler's guidance. Let this be sent per post without delay. In the interim Mr. K. may finish the seals.
