TitleLetter. Pascoe Grenfell (Westminster) to Matthew Boulton [Soho].
LevelItem
Date23 January 1805
Description(Dated at the House of Commons, six o’clock.) [I have this moment left Mr. Rose. I stated to him last week’s ticketing price: since we sold you the 600 tons, the standard has advanced from 145 to £162 10s.: consequently there must be a great loss in supplying the copper upon the terms first proposed. He said it was not the wish of Government that any person should lose by it, and advises an application by you for revising the terms of your contract. No doubt you will no longer hesitate to apply for such terms as are consistent with the present situation of the copper trade. The number of pieces coined should be 52 [per lb.] instead of 48.]
