| Description | "His pursuits, studies, and situation at Laleham." Laleham August 17th. 1830. My dear Papa, I am afraid you will think this letter late in coming, but I have been so busy in my Latin lessons, that I could find no time, I assure you I am very happy here, I have finished Aesops fables; which I did not quite end with Mr. Tylecote, and have begun Virgils Eclogues, which I first translate, and then learn by heart, I am now doing Ellis’ Exercises, I have got a sentence for Aunt Bessy; “Ter circum Iliacos, raptaverat Hectora muros, exanimum-que auro corpus vendebat Achilles.”—I like Laleham very much; I sometimes take a walk to the river Thames, and to Chertsey, Yesterday we played at cricket, and I like the game very much; there is a very nice garden here, and a very pretty wood, and we intend some day to take a walk to Staines, which is not far off, Please to give my love, to Kitty, and the others, and believe me to be your affectionate son, Matthew Watt Boulton
