Bradford April 29. 1832 My dear Papa As it is a very long time since I last wrote to you, I now sit down to tell you what I am doing. I have had another attack of my torments since I last wrote to you. but the lime water removed them entirely; and Mr Smith intends me to drink it constantly in order to prevent my being again troubled with them. Since I wrote to you last, I have finished the first book of the Iliad, & been through it again, and I have begun the second book which is become much easier to me. Mr Smith has given me three volumes of Valpys Greek Testament. with English notes. I am learning out of it, an account of the Greek article, that I may be better able to understand the force of it in reading Greek. I continue to write Themes which I find much easier than I did a short time ago. I have a drilling master who comes to me in the evening, his name is Captain Wheatley: he is to teach me the broadsword exercise. Mr Smith wishes to know if Matthew knows of my going to Eton, & if he is at liberty to write to Mr Coleridge to know what I should be examined in when I go to Eton. I told you in my last letter that the younger master Smith was to be called Percy. but his name is now changed to Herbert. Mr & Mrs Smith send their compliments to you. Please to give my love to all at home, & believe me to remain your affectionate son, Montagu Boulton
