| Description | "Is supplied with Eton atlas and book of explanations and skeleton maps. Mr. Buckland’s son at Eton placed with him in the same remove." (The date above is that of the postmark.)
My dear Papa Agreably to your wish I have written to answer your queries & to thank you for your kind offer of books, maps &c which might be useful to me. I had howeve[r] in an order at the beginning of the half, a book called “the description book” & an Eton Atlas with the index. The Description Book is a compendium of Geography & history by Arrowsmith & will I think answer the purpose of the books you so kindly offered me. I have also Adams, Geography, & history which I brough[t] from home. I hope with these that I shall soon be able by diligent strudy to make up the deficiency.—I had the satisfaction of hearing from Du Puis that my last map was much better than my former ones. Mr Bucklands son came here a short time ago, & was placed in the same remove as I was. He is my tutors pupil but does not board here. There is another new fellow come to this house who is in the remove, & having only just come it was my tutors wish that I should mess with him, & on that account I am obliged to leave my former messmate Campbell. We received our tea yesterday for which we are much obliged to you. I have now nothing more to tell you so with our united love to all at home, believe me to remain your affectionate son.
