My dear Papa
I am very much obliged to you for the books which you sent me; they arrived safely here on Saturday; together with the compasses, I have read part of Heerens ancient history and find it very entertaining, Mr. Stocker has bought Euclids Elements of Algebra for me, with Edwards’ Latin Grammar, and Virgil, with notes, I am learning some of Collins’ Eclogues from a book called the Parents poetical Anthology.—My French master, comes here every Wednesday and Saturday, and for the present I am translating to him out of a book entitled “Annales de la Vertu.”—I am glad to hear that all at Brighton are well; the weather here has been in general very fine, with the exception of a few rainy days. Tell Kitty that I will keep some of each sort of annual. Please to give my love to Kitty and the others not forgetting Baby, and believe me to be your affectionate son,
