My dear Sir,
Your son has had no increase of cough; he had but three fits of coughing yesterday, without its being attended with hooping, and only one to-day. He tells me he thinks “it is very nearly well.” As the weather is too unfavorable to allow of his leaving the house, I will resign the remainder of the sheet to him. I remain

My dear Papa,
I feel my cough to be much better, and I hope that it will soon be well enough to join Kitty, and Hugh William, I am writing the plants mentioned in Virgil in a list, and afterwards drying them, to place in my book, and I am beginning to do some sums in Involution and Evolution, and I have very nearly finished Howards Exercises, Please to give my love to Miss Burgess, Aunt Bessy, Montagu, and my Sisters, and believe me to be your affect. son
