My dear Anne Robinson.
I was examined the other day by Mr. Selwyn for my certificate, & I suppose Mr. Coleridge has by this time sent it. I am sorry to tell you that Montagu has been rather ill of late. He felt dull & heavy for the greater part of last week, & on Friday was obliged to stay out. He has kept his bed ever since Sunday. Mr. Brown the doctor says that he has got a low fever; which he will be sometime in getting quite rid of. He is however better at present, though still in bed.—The sending up for Play which was so difficult to understand, has been altered this half. As no sixth form could before be sent up for Play but on a regular week, which does not come very often, very few of the sixth form could be sent up. Dr. Hawtrey has therefore made it possible for the sixth-form to be sent up for good, & out of these exercises he selects the best to be sent up for play. Those sent up for Play count twice. I have been sent up for good & for play this half, which makes three times. Montagu has also been sent up by Mr. Coleridge. Owing to the death of Mr. Wright the fellow great changes have taken place in the masters. Mr. G. Dupuis has been elected fellow, & Mr. Okes Lower Master. By this means my tutor has become head of the Assistant Masters. The new master is to be Mr. Carter, with whom I was at school for some time. Will you ask Ned if she can send us soon a parcel of grog , as what Cotton brought is all gone. I am very much obliged to Kitty for her letter. Pray remember me to all at home & believe me to remain
