Description"Safe return to Eton."

Eton. Sunday, April 21.
My dear Papa,
I arrived here quite safe last night by the seven o’clock train; my luggage, which I had placed in the Great Western station came on by one of the earlier trains, & was left at Slough. We got into London at ten minutes past two, & might have got in much earlier, for we stopped very long at several of the stations. We came from London to Slough in 34 minutes. The train from Birmingham was very long, there were 4 gentlemans carriages at starting, & two more were put on soon afterwards. The hepatica arrived quite safe, but the rest of my luggage must have been rather shaken, as one of the bommerengs was broken, & also a pot of jam in the middle of my portmanteau. Nothing particular has happened at Eton during the holidays; Mr. Dupuis has left his house, & his pupils have gone to other tutors, he himself is in residence, & preached this morning.
Believe me to remain yr. affect. son
M. P. Boulton.
