| Description | "Ideas on present to C. Roberts on his quitting the service of Boulton, Watt, & Co."
Soho 19 June 1825 My dear Sir The period of Mr Roberts's leaving us is fast approaching, and as he has been very attentive in giving Instructions to his Successor , as well as in having all his Accounts written up, I think a present to him upon his quitting our employment would be proper, and I have reason to suppose, highly acceptable. He has never received any thing beyond his Salary of £140 per Annum, and I really think we may under all the circumstances make him a donation of £50. I have been very much interupted by various causes since my return home, and as yet have made no progress in the regulation of the Boiler department, which gets on more slowly than ever. Mr Lee has been here and has left his two Younger daughters at Heathfield and proceeded with the elder to Bristol. He is expected back this evening. Mrs Storer died at the Foundry on Friday. I am My dear Sir Yours faithfully James Watt No orders yet received from the India House for forwarding the Calcutta Dredging Engine. |
