Soho Decembr. 27-1798 Dear Sir When I was last in London I calld twice on Mr Nicholls, but was not fortunate enought to find him at home. I then wrote to him to express my vexation that ye promised dividend of 6 per Ct to Mr Garbetts Credrs. was delayd by any new operations of Law. In answer to which he wrote me a letter dated ye 6th. Int. of which I send you inclosed a Copy, but ye bearer Mr Tyson will shew you ye original. I have only seen Mr Garbett once since my return, & that for a few minutes, but I understand he has wrote to you upon the subject which he is better capable of explaining than I am If I was a Credr. for ten thousand £ I could not be more anxious than I am, for final Close of this unfortunate business which grows more & more unpleasant to me but nevertheless I think Mr Garbett will ultimately convince all his Credrs. that the Struggle he has made for so many years has arose from honorable intentions and will terminate to the advantage of all ye interested parties It was with great pleasure that I observd in ye Newspaper an event announced, which, I must sincerely hope, will prove the happiest of your Life, & beg you & Mrs. Barker will accept of my hearty Congratulations theron Wishing you both much health & happiness as well as a long & prosperous Life.
