Extract from the Condition of the Bond from Thomas Bulkeley Foden to the Clerk to the Trustees of the Handsworth Turnpike Road, dated 7th March 1821.
"And if the said Thomas Bulkeley Foden his Executors Administrators or assigns do & shall "permit and suffer all Horses Carts Waggons Chaises & other Carriages and Cattle going to or "from the Houses of Mrs. Watt and Mr. Grice by the West Bromwich, Bricknells End or "Handsworth Road, & not going to Birmingham to pass free and exempt from all manner of Toll "at the Handsworth Gate", and do & shall &c. &c.
