My Dear Sir I received your kind present a little time since, in a parcel from my Father; I have since then read it, and am indead very much pleased with the contents; The letters are not only of such sound sense and tender fealings, but are likewise full of instruction. For this, as well as all your other kindnesses, I return my most sincere thanks; but what I feel myself most indepted to you for, is your good wishes which you have allways expressed for me. for these I trust you will never find me ungrateful. My Father as well as the Dr have now most kindly forgiven me, and therefore I hope it will not lower me in your estimation. I wrote to my Father before I left town.
