My dear Sir, Mr. Walford has seen the Greens who say they never perceived any thing improper in Jane Pearsons manner or conduct, at least nothing to warrant the suspicion you entertain, the information which he got in Union Passage was from a neighbour, she said she had lately been very lavish in her expenditure & thought she was spending principal as well at interest but he coud not make out that there was any thing wrong in the upper stories If you like Mrs. W. will call upon you I have been very unwell all day & believe must shut myself entirely from society. I am going to Cheshire but shall [be] back about tuesday or wednesday when if you like I will see Miss Pearson myself.
