| Description | "Relative to the recovery of Boulton, Walker, & Collins' Danish debts. Expected commision by Oliver Mason." (Directed to 61 Wimpole Street.)
My dear Sir Oliver Mason was here yesterday and I referred to the agreement between yourself & Messrs. Mason when you transferred your Northern Mercantile connection to them and impowered them to get in the debts of Boulton Walker & Collins and by this I perceive you were to allow them 5 p: Cent on all their receipts. As I understand it to be your wish that Mr. O. Mason should continue to prosecute your claim in respect of the Danish confiscations it may be advisable for you to give him an express Power of Attorney for the purpose-this he thinks desirable himself. Should he succeed he will expect the commission proposed by the agreement & which he tells me was also recognized by you in a conversation he had with you at Soho. He now waits for an answer to certain enquiries which he has sent to you and will then proceed to push your claim with all vigour. I confess I think you have a good chance of getting back some if not all of your money. The deeds arrived safe & you shall hear from me when the money is paid. Remember me to the ladies & Believe me Yr very truly Geo Barker M R Boulton Esqr |
