| Description | "Notice of Combe Hay estate on sale, and has sent particulars."
Fenchurch St. July 23d 1839. My dear Sir I have received Particulars of an Estate, which I venture to trouble you with, altho' I am afraid the Situation is somewhat out of your Beat. I have always heard of the Comb Hay Property, as one of great Beauty & Consequence in the County of Somerset, but there are other Qualities, which I suspect it does not possess, to make it acceptable to you! However I am sure you will excuse my laying the Particulars before you. I have been looking out for Birmingham News, to see that the Dangers of the Town have not extended, either to Soho or Aston. I sincerely hope, both you & Mr Watt will not be visited by the Chartists, altho' their fearful Proceedings may well create Apprehension, for any part of their Neighbourhood. I have seen Mr Cotton today, and I collect from him, that the Result of his & Mr C Wigram's Visit has not been according to my Hope. Mr. Turner has also been here this Morning, and he tells me, that he & his Friends were delighted at Tew, and had only to regret, that the Rain on the second Day prevented their seeing the whole of your Estate there. I am, my dear Sir, very respectfully, Your obliged & faithful Servant Jno Coles Symes. PS I truly hope to hear, that you are better, than when I had the pleasure of seeing you. M R Boulton Esqr Soho |
