Description"Invitation to Soho. Hope that the Manufactory’s being no longer shown will be no impediment to his intended visit." (3 pcs.)
Soho Augt 4th 1814
Dear Sir
I shall be happy in the opportunity of renewing our long interrupted acquaintance should I fortunately be at home when you pass thro’ Birmingham.
An engagement to accompany a friend upon an excursion renders my movements somewhat uncertain. Our departure stands fixed at present for the commencement of the ensuing week, but I cannot say as my intended companion is yet detained in town whether anything may occur to alter our arrangements & afford me the the pleasure of seeing you in your passage thro’ our neighbourhood
I hope you will not suffer the interdict which has now existed for several years in regard to the shewing of Soho Manufactory to influence your intentions in favoring me with a visit should other circumstances allow me to look for that pleasure.
A measure to this effect was absolutely forced uopn my partners & myself in consequence of the very serious interruptions which our business experienced from the influx of Visitors & our fruitless endeavours to obviate the inconvenience by partial exclusions which we found involved us in frequent misunderstandings leaving us in fact no other alternative but to make the regulation general.
I am
Dr Sir
Yours truly
M: Robinson Boulton
