| Description | Admitt Mr Wms. Evidence in its fullest extent, respecting the importance of Copper in Bolting & Sheathing the British Navy as well as the Merchant Ships. Admitt That the 2 Birmgm. Copper Cos. bought more than their Share, or 1/11 of the Cornish Ores, but Prove that it was Mr Wms. alone that led the way to ye great rise of price & that they never exported any unmanufactured. N:B: It was determind last summer for the deep mine of Dolcoath (wch belongs to Lord de Dl.) to be opend & set to work again although the price of ore was more than 20 Pr Cent lower than of late. It is good policy, & even the duty of Goverment, to preserve that limited quantity of Copper wch Nature has given us, from being wasted or Exported in a raw state: both for the sake of our Navy & our Mercantile Ships (the importance of which is proved by Mr Williams) for I think it easy to prove that if the Cornish & Anglesey Mines are draind of their riches the next 20 Years, as they have been the last there will be an end of them. First provide Copper for our Navy & 2d for our Manufactures & the if another Anglesey or Cornwall should be discoverd let the E I Co. Export what we have to spare but let the Price to the E: I: Co: be the Price to the Manufactures.
