| Description | There is a bundle wrapper indicating the groups in which different classes of bills were kept: '1820 Bills of Furniture, Stable Bills, Work & Repairs, Garden, Farm, Insurance, Taxes & Levies, Postage & Carriage of Goods, Seat in Church &c &c.' Although labelled 1820, some of the bills in this bundle date from 1819. A letter torn in half has also been used as a wrapper for furniture bills. One half is endorsed on the back 'Furniture Bills No.68 1820 Wellsted'. On the reverse is part of a letter from James Wellsted to Miss Boulton (date torn off). The other half is endorsed on the back 'Bills Furniture 1820 No.68'. On the reverse is the other part of James Wellsted's letter, concerning an item from a Mr. Allen, and Wellsted's purchase of additional fabric, of which he has a remnant left.
The bills have been numbered in ink; this numbering has been followed in the list. |
