DescriptionMy Dearest Creature
Harlequein very punctualy deliverd your Message to me & I have accordingly sent the Skirt by westons Wagon I was quite overjoyd to hear that your mama was not in the least angry at your staying here & I hope to God the length of Your Visits here will be increased instead of being shortend untill you reside wholy here. but I was soon brought low again when Molly [1] told me of your Mamma’s Enquire’s about Mr Sudell but what gave me the greatest concern was that you should think I had been the cause of those perticular enquires whereas I most seriously declare that I never said a Tittle to her but what I should readily have said in thy Pressence. it is true she mentioned him to me with very great dislike & asked me if I thought there was any thing between you & him to which I replyd that I was very certain you would never have him & this I declare is the most that ever passd between us on that head therefore I beg you will be intirely satisfyed about it. I yesterday receivd a very angry Letter from Mr Barker without any deserved cause for it unless it was Neglecting my own Business to do all I could to forward their printed papers I jockeingly wrote to him on Sunday to tell him I had sent some papers which We had hazerded our Souls in printing on Sunday Morning but he in his angry Letter writes that, he hopes that I did not hazard my Soul more on Saterday night than in Sundays printing & hopes I sat up late on some good & Virtuous actions which was the cause of my not riseing before Eleven o’Clock on Sunday morning, which you know is faulse for as I remember I rose about Nine & if I had layn Till Twelve what was it to any body. but however I believe he happend to be in a cross humour & therefore shall excuse it so pray dont tell him that I wrote any thing about it I have now sent all their Papers
God bless my dear angel & preserve her in peace & happiness till I again Clasp her to a heart that Bleeds & pants for her & if she would do a good, kind & Charitable act she must favour with a Line her
Most affectionate Loving & ever dutyfull Friend & Husband
