‘ M’r Richard Chippindall
Sir,
I wrote to you some Days ago, request’g that you would pack up in a Tin Case four Prints of Mr Boulton’s Portrait (one of them to be a Proof Print & the Word Proof written on the Back of it) & send the same without Delay to the Residence of the Russian Ambassador; but by a Letter received yesterday from Mr Smirnove, Secretary to His Excellency, it appears the Parcel had not been delivered at the Time of his writing, & as Mr Boulton is very anxious on the Subject, the Time of the Count’s Departure drawing so near Hand, I have to entreat, that if the Prints in question are not yet pack’d up & sent, you will have the Goodness to give the necessary Directions on this Head without one Moment’s delay:—in which Case it may or may not be improper for me to specify the more particular Directions for packing the Prints that my Letter aforesaid contained, viz,
To have Cambric Paper interpos’d between each of the Prints
to have the Tin Case when fill’d wrapp’d up in strong Paper well secured with String, & directed for His Excellency Count Woronzow.
I am Sir
your most ob’t humble Servant
Wm Cheshire ’
