| Description | Soho Octr 6th 1802 ‘ Mr Richard Chippindall Dear Sir, Mr Boulton is half Crazy at the many Accidents & Impediments that have delayed the Commencemtof the East India Coinage. A Matrice from M’r Kuchler has sunk in making a Punch from it, & the last Puncheon he repair’d was not *cut deep enough in the Ground, which has determined Mr Boulton to have on all future Occasions duplicate Matrices to provide against the Delays arising from such unlucky Contingencies. For notwithstanding all the Exertions that have been made Mr Boulton has the Mortification to find that he has not yet one Press at Work, nor one Pair of Dies ready. Mr B therefore particularly requests that you will have the Goodness to either go to or send for Mr Kuchler & sollicit his best Efforts in compleating as fast as possible every Thing he has in Hand relating to this Coinage & especially to urge him for once to profane the Sabbath by working all Day next Sunday at the Matrices for which Dies were sent up through yr hands yesterday. I am Dear Sir your most ob’t huml Serv’t. Wm Cheshire * From the natural Irritability of M’r K it will be necessary to avoid touching him in sore Places.’ |
