M’r Joseph Curtis
Dear Sir,
I had indeed heard of your illness & participated in the anxiety your family must have felt on so alarming an occasion. I congratulate you & them on the rapid advances you are now making to a state of recovery, which I hope will soon be complete & remain permanent.
I regret that it is not in my power to execute the little commission you have favored me with, which is owing to there not being any such article as you describe made of brass at Soho Manufactory. The Plate Co here manufacture nothing inferior to Plated Wares & a Branch of the pattern of that you noticed on Mr Boulton’s Table would cost £7..2..6—even without the modern improvement of making all those parts which are most exposed to abrasion of solid silver.
I beg to be kindly remembered to your Fire side Circle & remain respectfully,
Dear Sir,
your ob’t hum Servt
Wm Cheshire
