Sir,
Having understood from Mr Bird that you have expressed a wish to hire Mr Boulton[’s] Canal Boat I beg to inform you that Mr Boulton is willing to let her to you for 12 Months certain, under a written agreement containing the customary stipulations, at the rate of 6/6 per Week, to be paid quarterly.
If you approve of the above proposal I will wait upon you to settle the preliminaries of the agreement alluded to, at any time you may appoint for the purpose.
