I have submitted to Mr Boulton your request respecting the ditch at Winson Green, to the filling up of which he cannot acquiesce because it wou’d be removing a land-mark that points out unequivocally, the line of your western boundary, & if effaced there might in a few years be some difficulty in ascertaining to whom the fence belongs.
Allow me to assure you, that Mr. Boulton’s refusal does not spring from an unaccommodating & unneighbourly spirit, but proceeds from his having experienced on a similar occasion considerable difficulty, trouble, & some loss.
