| Description | (2 pcs.) Advises that the names of parties required for the lease are Joseph and Ann Hodgetts. Has no stamped, plain, or printed skins left. Soho, November 30th, 1807. Messrs. Barker & Unett. Gentlemen, The names of the parties required to complete Middleton’s Lease are as follows, viz. Joseph Hodgetts, The present occupier of the Cottage. Ann Hodgetts, Mother of the above, and at the termination of whose life the son is to surrender the possession to Matthew Boulton. Upon investigation it appears that we have no stamp’d skins left, nor any more blank or printed skins, except the two intended for Middleton which are in your hands; it therefore becomes a question whether it will be worth while to send those two to be stamp’d immediately, or wait till others, either printed or plain as may be thought best, can be procured to accompany them, as I have reason to believe, from the experience of a former occasion, that some trouble and delay attends the business of procuring them stamp’d, and probably as much with one skin as with a dozen, but of this you will be better able to judge. Respecting the point of having in future either printed or plain skins I shall submit it to Mr. R. Boulton who will probably confer with you thereon. I am respectfully, Gentlemen, your obedient Servant, Wm. Cheshire [Edited transcript.] |
